What Is the Story About?

Season 3 starts three months after Season 2. Mark is struggling with guilt after killing Angstrom. His strength is growing, and Cecil is watching him closely. He also just broke up with Amber.

At home, his half brother Oliver wants to be a superhero, but Mark wants him to have a normal childhood. They start losing trust in Cecil, who is monitoring their family.

Meanwhile, Omni-Man and Allen form a truce in Viltrumite prison. Allen hopes to recruit Omni-Man to fight the Viltrumites.

The Guardians of the Globe also struggle. Rex Splode and Shrinking Rae are recovering from their near-death battle, and Rex is trying to grow up.

Performances?

This is an animated show. Thus there is no actual performance as such apart from the voice acting that you listen to. The digital artists have the responsibility to draw arts that can impact you. There is no doubt that they are impeccable at their work.

Talking about voice acting. We need to take care of something. The actors have been dubbing for their respective roles for quite some time now. They are very very comfortable with their characters and it shows.

In the emotional scenes, this becomes even more prominent. The actors know their characters very well and the turmoil within themselves has been represented in an excellent manner.

Analysis

Unlike the second season, the third one did not take a lot of time to be available. Within 10 months only, we already have the third season (although only three episodes).

The makers have understood one thing very clearly. Drama sells.

That’s why the very beginning of the third season is highly dramatic. There is no one-on-one isolated combat; there is high-octane drama both within Mark and outside him.

The way Mark battles with his guilts is not something many superheroes do, but just to add a bit of flavour, the makers have given it significant attention. As a result, you see the superhero in his vulnerable form. The way he deals with Oliver is also handled very beautifully.

The writing of the show is on spot, primarily because it does not try to move away from its comic course. This has given the series its fair share of emotional baggage without making it look like a melodrama.

The real problem of the series so far has to be Viltrumites. Yes, Mark is preparing to defeat them. Cecil and the Global Defence Agency are trying their best too. But there is no strong threat to Mark.

The series is so deeply invested in the internal turmoils of the superhero that the external threats were left behind.

That’s why, this time there is no true villain.

The series takes the morally grey villain.

And the villainous part is shared by Cecil. The makers will take much more time to answer many important questions that were raised at the end of the second season.

Music and Other Departments?

We must appreciate the animation. Yes, there have been complaints against the animation which according to some feels less dynamic than some other American shows.

But the makers have done a good job at showing the emotions and building the world around them.

As for music, the best work has been done in the vulnerable moments of the characters. They acutely show the turmoils and struggles and you would not have anything to complain against.
