What Is The Story About?
Disney Plus Hotstar’s new Telugu original series ‘Miss Perfect’ follows HR consultant Lavanya Rao (Lavanya Tripathi Konidela), who has an obsessive compulsive disorder for cleanliness and perfection. Lavanya joins a new job in Hyderabad, but then Covid and lockdown strike. Lavanya finds herself stuck at home without house-help. A comedy of errors brings her into close contact with a charming neighbour (Abijeet) who’s as messy as she’s clean.
Miss Perfect is written by Shruti Ramachandran and Francis Thomas, and directed by Vishvak Khanderao.
Performances?
Lavanya Tripathi Konidela is both the heart and soul of the series. She essays her role with an honest earnestness, which lends credibility to the essentially far-fetched narrative. She looks pretty and poised throughout. Abijeet is sweet and charming as Rohit; not to mention he makes a good pair with Lavanya Tripathi.
Abhignya shines as domestic help cum aspiring singer Jyothi, making her track believable and feel-good. Harsh Roshan is cute and watchable as her brother Karthik, an aspiring YouTuber and influencer. Harshavardhan, as Lavanya’s father Gokul, Jhansi as his love interest Rajalakshmi, and Mahesh Vitta as Sreeni, the security guard of the building, lend good support.
Analysis?
Disney Plus Hotstar’s ‘Miss Perfect’ is the kind of breezy show that you watch, enjoy in the moment and then forget about. In short, it is an entertaining series but not memorable enough to linger in your heart and mind for long. The short, fast-paced episodes add to the breezy feel of the story.
The premise is cute, but quite far-fetched and incredulous — why would a highly qualified, high-earning management professional play maid for her neighbour, however keen is her instinct and passion for cleanliness? The plot just doesn’t sit well for anyone with even a modicum of intelligence.
With that being said and out of the way, the best thing we liked about Miss Perfect is that it is squeaky clean entertainment. There are no cheap jokes, unnecessary lovemaking scenes, needless cussing, or over-the-top melodrama to leave us rolling our eyes in despair or a bad taste in the mouth. The humour is light on the intellect, the dialogues likewise.
The sub-plots in the series, involving Jyothi, her good-hearted landlord, her sassy brother and her singing aspirations, never feel forced, contrived or detracting from the main track. Instead, they are designed to imbue a feel-good element to the series, making you quite like the show overall.
The production values of the series are top-notch, the background score is peppy, and the technical aspects are good. All of the above, coupled with flawless performances, make Miss Perfect a well-made show on the whole.
Music And Other Departments?
Prashanth Vihari’s background music is apt for the series. It is soft and melodious. Aditya Javvadi’s cinematography is good, though nothing outstanding
