Amaran has had a fantastic run. The Tamil movie was released on the occasion of Deepavali and emerged as a massive blockbuster in the South Indian states. The business of the film is better than both Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again, which says a lot about how big it is.
However, the movie is facing a small controversy now but for the boy who is suffering in all this, it is indeed a big problem.
V.V. Vaageesan, an engineering student from Chennai, was bombarded with phone calls from strangers after Amaran mistakenly showed his personal mobile number in a scene.
In one scene, Sai Pallavi throws a piece of paper with her “phone number” written on it. Unfortunately, the number shown in the movie is Vaageesan’s real phone number. This led to a flood of calls from fans trying to reach the actress but in reality, it is disrupting the student’s life entirely.
The trouble began while he was celebrating Deepavali with his family. His phone rang constantly, and the next day, the number of calls increased. Many people thought the number belonged to Sai Pallavi or someone connected to the film’s story.
Vaageesan explained that the nonstop calls have made his life miserable. He cannot sleep, study, or perform simple tasks like booking a cab. Despite posting about his issue on social media and tagging the movie’s director and actor Sivakarthikeyan, he received no response.
Frustrated, he sent a legal notice to the film’s makers. He demanded the removal of his number from the movie and ₹1.1 crore in compensation for the distress caused. He also clarified that he cannot change his phone number because it is linked to essential services like Aadhaar and bank accounts.
The student continues to receive calls while waiting for action from the filmmakers.
Unfortunately, the makers are in a position where they may not even realise how frustrating it can be for the boy. We hope that he receives the kind of support he deserves.
