It’s interesting to note that the working title of the film, Hiphop Tamizha 8, was first disclosed in February 2023 but wasn’t formally confirmed until July 2024.
Given the film’s ambitious idea, a well thought out marketing strategy, particularly one that concentrated on multilingual outreach, could have greatly increased anticipation.
The film, is set in 2028, imagines a frightening future in which China and Russia have banded together to form a strong bloc known as “The Republic,” endangering the legitimacy of the UN.
The drama primarily takes place in Tamil Nadu, where Nataraj, the state’s chief minister’s right-hand man, is subtly manipulating events.
The Times of India’s Roopa Radhakrishnan gave the movie a three and a half star rating, writing, “Kadaisi Ulaga Por deserves appreciation for what it set out to do and how the film has managed to attain it.” As a whole work, this Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi directed picture is an unforgettable experience, however it is not without its problems and there are sporadic dull moments in between.” With someone like Adhi at the forefront, The Last World War has enormous potential to become a dystopian war drama that Tamil cinema has never seen.
