Blockbuster Tamil biographical action war film ‘Amaran’ is currently running successfully in theatres but the makers have decided to not delay its OTT debut anymore. Going by the four week window rule, the film was Initially planned to premiere on its streaming partner Netflix in November, but the makers decided to postpone it by a week given ‘Amaran’s’ incredible box office performance.
Now the Sivakarthikeyan starrer film is all set to debut on Netflix on 5th December, five weeks after it’s theatrical release on Diwali. But the question is could this have been delayed a little longer and let ‘Amaran’ run its full potential in cinemas?
The audience certainly believes so and why shouldn’t it when the film not only got great response from critics and public but also did well commercially and continues to do so even now.
‘Amaran’ has received widespread acclaim for powerful performances by lead cast, deft direction, gripping screenplay and narrative, sharp editing, engaging pace and incredible background score and soundtrack.
Given such credentials, ‘Amaran’ does deserve more time at the big screens but since the makers have already gone beyond the set standard rule, it won’t be possible now and moreover we already know it’s coming to Netflix this December 5 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. ‘Amaran’ is yet another proof of why South Indian entertainment industry needs to have a relook into its not so flexible release pattern.
