Superstar Karthi is all set to become a dashing police officer and run riots around the city in his upcoming action-drama Vaa Vathiyaar. The film is written and directed by Nalan Kumarasamy and the last time he took up this job fully was in 2016’s Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum, which received critically positive reviews.
He also co-directed Kutty Story in 2020 which consisted of four other directors. Speaking of Vaa Vathiyaar, the film stars Karthi in Krithi Shetty in prominent roles alongside Sathyaraj, Anandaraj, Shilpa Manjunath, and Ramesh Thilak in prominent roles.
The makers have promised the film to be a tribute to 90s masala films and by the looks of it, the film might live up to those statements. On the other hand, Karthi has been tasting success at the box office and in the eyes of the critics with his recent release Meiyazhagan.
With Vaa Vathiyaar, everything seems to be on point from casting to a messy and compelling plot, however, only one thing might be concerning for the makers. Vaa Vathiyaar’s is currently scheduled for a January release near Pongal. Now the situation at the box office during this time is a bit crowded as Game Changer, Good Bad Ugly, Vanangaan, and many other films are looking to claim the top spot next January.
As no fixed release date has been confirmed, it might be a wise decision to shift the date to February or any other month. However, if the film is released next January, it will surely affect its box office collection. Either way, makers are concerned about the positive word of mouth and reviews for this 90s tribute show and would love to go all out with a January release.
