This weekend did not witness the release of a whole lot of big titles. However, the box-office was peppered with a few regional titles here and there, with one of them being ‘Hitler’, a Tamil-language action thriller film written a s well as directed by Dhana.
The features, starring Gautham Vasudev Menon, Vijay Antony, and Thamizh in leading roles, follows the story of Selva who comes to Chennai, and by virtue of his destiny falls in love with Sarah, who lives with her aunt. All this while, deputy commissioner Sakthi is on the rabid lookout for a murderer who has killed a few underworld thugs and looted their money.
Throughout the course of this feature, predictability follows the storyline that unfurls rather uncharacteristically. Moreover, the performance deliveries are being called lackluster, even though they are virtually the only component keeping the film afloat, except for the background score. Although the film has potential with respect to its generic one-man-takes-against-corruption theme, the film falls flat in most senses.
Moreover, the predictability of the film really overpowers the places where the film could be considered relatable by the audience. Rather, these potentially relatable moments end up coming across as cringey gimmicks.
Conclusively, the film is being described as a one-time-watch at best by those who’ve caught it first hand. For those willing to catch hold of it still, head on over to your nearest cinemas to find out the verdict for yourself!
