A return in the budget utilized for a project is dependent on its central attractions. In the film industry, the actor, director, producer, and writer belong to this category. The day marks the first anniversary of one of the top-grossing movies in Indian filmography. What is so special about such a date that is so worth remembering, despite not receiving an average in its positive response?
‘Leo’ is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by S.S Lalitkumar along with Jagadish Palanisamy under the banner of Seven Screen Studio. The story of the effort is inspired by ‘A History of Violence’, which is a Hollywood movie by David Cronenberg.
The movie had enumerated merits including the production design and conception where the audience was able to enjoy the brilliant first half. Apart from impressing the fans, a ‘Performer’ Thalapathy Vijay was able to be witnessed by the audience which is a rare event.
On the contrary, the demerits like the loose writing in second-half, unnecessary turning points, and lack of strong antagonists were limiting the watchable factor for the effort. Also, the unwanted connection of the character ‘Leo’ a.k.a. ‘Parthiban’ to the cinematic universe by the director caused another issue for such a ‘could be stand-out’ flick.
Furthermore, there was speculation from the crew that a second installment for the character-driven narrative effort could be conceived but not yet been officially said. If it can be a thought, what can be its possibility of success?
Success doesn’t merely mean to be from a commercial point of view. The biggest selling proposition like Thalapathy Vijay has all the capabilities to do such a thing in a cakewalk. The majority chances of the actor playing a full-fledged role like ‘Parthiban’ can be attempted for the screenplay’s best lead and greatest involvement of other actors.
Subsequently. The compelling connection of the director’s cinematic universe can be avoided that can involve the drug mafia and inclusion of movie references like ‘Kaithi’ and ‘Vikram’. Also, the director’s recent rapid-fire thought about his wish to make a movie based on such a character can be considerable. Moreover, a standalone masterpiece can be conceived with such a profound storyline.
However, the question arises who will play the role of ‘Parthiban’ in this context? And how well can the character ‘Leo’ be utilized? Stay tuned in Binged for the ‘bloody sweet’ updates.
