When a feature combines megastars as big as Rajnikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, all under one title, it is undoubtedly destined for success. However, that also does not go to say that the marketing teams don’t do justice to their parts.
Case in point: ‘Vettaiayn’s utterly lackluster distribution all across the Northern belt of the country. Sure, the names associated with the film are enough to draw audiences to theatres, but what will they even do if there aren’t enough cinemas streaming the film in the first place?
Having released on October 10th, the film is only available to watch in a few sparse theatres peppered across the Delhi-NCR area, and that too, only for a maximum of three shows per day. While the weekend witnesses an increase in the number of shows, the count of theatres remains low. With Chandigarh having only one screening of the film, the viewing numbers are even lower.
This is not all. A similar case is observed with Mumbai and Pune, where the film is only available to watch in Hindi, and not Telugu in the former city. Despite this, virtually no shows have been booked fully.
Will the upcoming weekend bear witness to a spike in bookings for the film? Or will ‘Vettaiyan’s box-office collections truly become a shocker? Only time will tell!
