Is it ever really a bad time for a feel-good movie? Well, probably not in general, except for being released parallel to a highly anticipated, globally buzzed feature. Such is the case with ‘Meiyazhagan’, a reportedly light-hearted feel-good film slated to release parallel to Jr NTR’s ‘Devara: Part One’.
The Karthi and Arvind Swamy starrer Tamil-language film debuted to positive feedback ahead of its theatrical release. The family drama, premiering in theatres on September 27, follows Arumozhi Varman a 40-year-old man who has to, for absolutely unavoidable reasons, revisit his hometown after 22 long years of being abandoned from it.
Unsurprisingly, when his literal journey ends is where his life begins in the first place. Not only is the film being hailed for its calm and serene filmography, the leading actors are also being widely appreciated for their performances. However, will this title, no matter how much positively it has been received prior to hitting the big screen, survive against the ‘Devara’ storm?
Because the latter, has not only taken the country by storm, but seemingly the entire world. Despite that, will the audience prefer going for a more feel-good experience, or a more adrenaline-packed thriller, in this battle of genres? And what will the impact of ‘Devara’ be on this Karthi starrer?
Only time will tell.
