Yogi Babu, who is known for his comic roles usually in movies, has made another appearance where he does not play his regular comic role in Kozhipannai Chelladurai. The film will be releasing on 20th September, on the day of National Cinema Day, and will be the debut film of Argan who plays the lead role in the film. The film also stars Aishwarya Dutta with him playing the role of his love interest.
The film is a typical drama that will revolve around the love story of Aegan with Aishwarya, and how their relationship evolves. The plot is neither too deep nor too intense for the audience. It is a light hearted romance which everyone can enjoy. There is minimal action involved and not too gory to not be for minors. Finally the film’s plot, from its trailer, seems to be quite linear which will make it possible for everyone to grasp the essence of the film.
The performance of the cast seems quite convincing. Especially Aegan, considering this is his first film, his performance is something you can look forward to. The role of Yogi Babu is something to look out for. It is not everyday you see him doing such serious roles. The film has been written and directed by Seenu Ramasamy who is well known for his works like Kanne Kalaimane (2019) and Maamanithan (2022). His direction in the film looks appreciable. The scenes and their settings look very natural and rooted to the traditional background.
Yogi Babu has done hundreds of films in his career. In almost all of them he acts in very minor roles whose aim is to provide comic relief. His comic timing and physical comedy has been commendable. Rarely has Yogi Babu been used for projects where his true acting potential was used, and especially for serious roles. Last time this was done, we received a gem of a movie named Bommai Nayagi (2023) that took audience aback from Yogi Babu’s performance.
Though the trailer does not promise something like Bommai Nayagi, we can certainly say that Yogi Babu is going to be spectacular in his role in the film. As he has always been, when given a good enough role, Yogi Babu surprises us with his performances. Same will be expected from this film tomorrow.
