Thiagarajan Kumararaja came up with a very unique idea for a film in 2019. The film was named Super Deluxe. The film was quite strange as the audience was not accustomed to such concepts back then in India. The film discussed four stories about four different characters. An unfaithful newly-wed wife (Samantha Ruth Prabhu), an estranged father (Vijay Sethupathi), a priest (Mysskin) and an angry son. All their stories take place on the same day.
The movie stars some of the biggest names of the film industry; namely- Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Vijay Sethupathi, Ramya Krishnan, Fahadh Faasil, Gayathrie etc. The names prove to their magnanimity through their performances in the film. The role of Vijay Sethupathi is especially commendable as he plays the role of a trans-male. The way he plays the role is really worth appreciating.
The film’s script is quite twisted for normal audience, you can even feel bored if you are not accustomed to such stories, but once you go through it, the film is something otherworldly. The direction too is appreciable as to how the for stories are presented together and how they become one, and yet four.
The film is something that takes our mind aback. The stories of the characters are something that can happen to anyone in their lives, yet they can’t happen to anyone. But the portrayal of the events makes them a mundane rarity. The way the plot turns is something one could not have thought of, and this unexpectedness gives the real kick during the film.
Overall, the work is a genius in the field of movie making, and someone who loves watching films that are well thought and executed and have more emphasis on the content they provide, should straightaway switch to Netflix and watch the film.
