Harish Kalyan’s low-budget Tamil movie Lubber Pandhu, directed by Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, has surprisingly done well at the box office. The sports drama, which features cricket as its backdrop, has generated a lot of attention from viewers and garnered significant profits at the box office since its September 20th release.
Given the overall budget of the film, the gross collections of almost Rs 40 crores are remarkable. Many people were going to Lubber Pandhu rather than the new flicks, such as Karthi’s Meiyazhagan and NTR’s Devara.
Attakathi Dinesh and Harish Kalyan played important roles in Lubber Pandhu, which was directed by relatively new Tamizharasan Pachamuthu. By making more money on its second weekend than its first, Lubber Pandhu broke with the trend.
The plot of Lubber Pandhu centers on two well-known cricket players, Gethu (Attakathi Dinesh) and Anbu (Harish Kalyan), who were bowlers and batters, respectively. The second half presents an intriguing perspective on caste prejudice, what one leaves behind, girl power, and many other themes, whereas the first half mostly focuses on the ego battle between the two cricket players.
After having a solid box office run, the film is all set to deliver its charm on the OTT. The critically acclaimed film is expected to be a huge hit in the OTT service given the amount of success it has already seen in theatres.
