Thankfully Viduthalai Part 2 will not see this fate.
This Vetrimaaran movie is all set to release on ZEE5 on January 17, 2025. The makers have planned this release around the Pongal festival to reach more viewers during the holiday season.
The film, which hit theaters on December 20, 2024, didn’t do well at the box office. Despite having big names like Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, and Manju Warrier in the cast, the movie couldn’t attract enough people to theaters. Though critics praised its performances and story, the mixed reviews hurt its performance. That’s why the overall reception of the film was also bad.
Because of this, the makers have decided on a quick OTT release. By quick we mean standard window of 4 weeks. Had it been a Telugu film then makers would have shifted it to OTT in the first week of January. Waiting longer could mean losing interest from audiences and streaming platforms. Releasing it during Pongal, when families come together, is a smart move to grab more attention.
ZEE5 will bring the film to a wider audience, especially for those who missed it in theaters. If you didn’t catch the movie in theaters, don’t worry! Mark your calendar for January 17 and enjoy the film on ZEE5 (only if you are interested.)
