With the surge in regional content consumption, Prime Video Original’s Tamil Series “Snakes and Ladders”, has sparked a curiosity among the viewers.
With its dark and twisted plot line associated with a nostalgic childhood game this series has the potential to be an international hit.
But the question is now with the nationwide viewership can “Snakes and Ladders” cross the linguistic and cultural barrier to become a nationwide hit?
Now because Prime Videos is one of the most powerful streaming platforms, it is easier for them to reach out to audiences, and on top of it it is Prime Videos’s Original, so the attraction towards this series should have been a little more huge.
Moreover, it is the first dark humour thriller series by the Tamil industry to stream in this platform.
Because the Tamil Industry took a very huge turn with this series, but why isn’t it reaching out to people enough?
Now if we talk about the language barriers it might face then, we have to acknowledge that it won’t be the problem because it will stream in five different languages, which are Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
So why is there a gap?
Once again we have to come back to square zero. Prime Videos is not promoting this Tamil series enough to gather attention, if we compare it to other series which was successful then we’ll see because of their marketing strategy it reached to the targeted audience.
Now, if we take the example of the movie “Aavesham” which was a Malayalam movie, streaming in Prime Videos they had done so much promoting for the movie.
But now with “Snakes and Ladders” we don’t really see the enthusiasm among the streaming platforms, so much so it might happen that after the release, nobody will pay an attention to series.
The plotline of this series is very interstellar, four kids are stuck in an unforseen dark events and things turns out more evil when they cross their path with the mastermind Leo.
The story is filled with suspense and thriller and twists that i can be a treat to the new generation audience who crave for good mystery stories.
Furthermore, regional contents has been a game changer for OTT platforms where people used to prefer other OTTs like Hoichoi, Aha, Sun NXT to see their own content, the big gaints paid enough attention to keep the regional content under their control, but it seems like they are forgetting that buying a remote control car and playing with it are two different things.
Probably, if “Snakes and Ladders” would choose a different and more close kenneted OTT platform to stream their project it would have been better.
Because Prime Videos is not paying enough attention, knowing the fact that people are now drawn towrds them to see the regional content.
Curated by Karthik Subbaraj this series feathers talents like Naveen Chandra, Nandha, Manoj Bharathiraja, Muthukumar, Srinda, Sreejith Ravi, Samrith, Surya Ragaveshwar, Suryakumar, Tarun, and Sasha Bharen in pivotal roles.
Now honestly it is the time to tell, that ,whether it shines or not, and it all depends on the authenticity of the storyline and the broader appeal by the audience. As regional stories are storming around now “Snakes and Ladders” has the chance to climb up.
