The latest release of a Tamil language web series is receiving better responses and is put on the wish list for more audiences to be watched. Will it be able to stand out in the genre it speaks?
‘Snakes and Ladders’ is a dark thriller directed by debutants Bharath Muralidharan, Ashok Veerappan, and Kamala Alchemis in nine episodes, bankrolled by Kalyan Subramanian, Kaarthekeyen Santhanam, Kal Raman, and Somasegar for Stone Bench productions.
Also, director Karthik Subbaraj is the creative producer along with a technical labour that includes Vignesh Raj as the cinematographer, Radha Sridhar overseeing the editing, and Prithvi Chandrashekhar composing the music as well as the background scores respectively.
The premise is about four daring kids who entangle themselves in perilous situations after attempting to conceal an accident, leading them down a treacherous path pursued by law enforcement, ruthless thugs, and the consequences of their choices.
As per the credible responses, the series is appreciable due to the well-defined characterization of different roles, a good storyline, efficient technical wing, and satiable conception.
However, the screenplay is dragging and is failing to convey the matter in short terms thereby becoming a tiresome experience for the viewers to watch further. Also, the references to some of the acclaimed series like Stranger Things and Sacred Games are its biggest challenge.
On the contrary, the climax gives a lead for a hopeful second season to which the audience can expect something. Again, the performances of actors, especially the children are to the point.
Moreover, it can be a watchable entertainer having both merits and little flaws.
The effort is featuring actors Naveen Chandra, Nandha, Manoj Bharathiraja, Muthukumar, Srinda, M.S.Samrith, S.Surya Ragaveshwar, S.Suryakumar, Tarun Yuvraaj, Sasha Bharen, Vishnu Bala, Ramachandran Durairajan, Dileepan, Sreejith Ravi, and Subash Selvan in important roles.
The web series is streaming on Amazon Prime Video India.
