Devara Part 1, which is proving to be one of the biggest films of the year is showing its mettle in the box office. The film has already crossed the figure of 300 crores in just 5-days span. Though the collection seemed to go down significantly on Monday, it gained on momentum once again on Tuesday. One thing that has been noticed of the film is that its collection distribution slowly is getting inclined towards the non-Telugu regions and not the native space.
The film began with a massive collection of 157 crores on the day of its release worldwide. This made the film take second spot in the highest grossing films released on the day. Interestingly, out of this huge collection, 109 crores were accounted for in India, and the rest (which was almost half the total amount) were accounted for overseas. It’s rare we see an Indian film appreciated so well by foreign audience.
Another interesting thing to see is, the film though initially was immensely supported by the native Telugu speaking fans and of the 109 crores gross in the opening day, 82 crores were collected from Telugu audience; slowly the film started losing its dominion among Telugu audience and the non-Telugu and overseas audience took charge. As of now, 45% of the total collection of the film accounts for the non-Telugu and foreign audience.
The film began with an unmatchable difference between the reception of Telugu and non-Telugu audiences. Later there was a significant dip in the figures for Telugu shows. The film earned 82 crores on the first day from Telugu audiences which dipped to less than 40 crores on the second day. On the contrary, the collections in other languages saw a rise. As of now the shows for the film in Telugu language has only 23% of occupancy in the theatres.
The film is nearing a collection of 400 crores in just the first week. The film will enjoy an immunity for the first two weeks with no major releases in the country. But if the film receives the similar attention from the audience as it is doing now, the period of two weeks will be wasted. Hopefully, the audience will show a good reception towards the film with no big releases this week, and looking at the current scenario, the film has started slowly revving back up.
