If there is one thing our history lessons were accompanied with, it is the importance of the subject as a whole. Not only is history important in understanding the past of a nation, it is also important in navigating the present. As is well known, an important portion of Indian history stems from our richly diverse mythology.
Which is probably why, recently, quite a lot of titles have come up, based on the generic mythological theme. With titles like the Malayalam-language thriller ‘Kishkindha Kaandam’ which has already been released, ‘Aindham Vedham’, a Tamil-language thriller series all set to premiere on Zee5, viewers seem to have their plates full with content related to myths.
And yet, more titles within the genre are upcoming. Take for example the forthcoming Telugu-language sci-fi adventure film ‘Rahasyam Idam Jagath’. The plot, inspired by Indian mythological and historical evidence discovered in Oregon, USA, is en route to theatres on November 8.
The film stars Rakesh Galebi, Sravanthi Pattipati, Manasa Veena, and Bhargav Gopinatham in leading roles. The film hasn’t quite been successful in generating a good amount of online buzz. While this could be due to lackluster publicizing, another major reason is that the audience seem to be saturated with the mythological genre, at least for the time being. Moreover, considering that the film lacks big names attached to it, it might as well fail to draw large crowds into theatres!
