Mayasabha is all set to arrive on SonyLIV on August 7. Led by Aadhi Pinisetty and Chaitanya Rao, this political drama is set in the turbulent 1990s. It explores the transformation of a strong alliance between two influential leaders, Kakarla Krishnama Naidu (Pinisetty) and MS Rami Reddy (Rao), into a fierce rivalry that ultimately reshapes Andhra Pradesh’s political landscape. The series also delves into themes of ambition, shifting loyalties, and betrayal.
Speaking of Aadhi Pinisetty, Mayasabha is a very important project for the co-lead. It’s been nearly 18 years since the actor began his journey in Telugu and Tamil cinema.
While Aadhi has excelled in supporting and antagonist roles, like in Sarrainodu and Rangasthalam, Mayasabha casts him as the lead in a high-profile political drama. This genre is currently thriving on OTT platforms, and SonyLIV, in particular, has a strong track record with such content (Maharani, Jehanabad, and more).
A success here could establish Aadhi as a leading man in the digital space, which is increasingly becoming as significant as theatrical releases.
In other words, one could argue that Aadhi needs Mayasabha more than Mayasabha needs Aadhi. His filmography from 2018 to 2025 reflects this. His last major hit was Rangasthalam (2018), a massive critical and commercial success. His performance as Kumar Babu was widely acclaimed, even earning him a Filmfare nomination for Best Supporting Actor. However, his subsequent films haven’t reached similar levels of success or impact.
Films like Neevevaro (2018), Good Luck Sakhi (2022), Clap (2022), The Warriorr (2022), and Partner (2023) were neither major box office hits nor critically groundbreaking. Even his recent film Sabdham (2025), though praised for his performance, underperformed commercially.
Which is why SonyLIV’s Mayasabha is a golden opportunity for Aadhi Pinisetty to shine and silence his critics. The platform has a solid reputation for high-quality original content. Being the face of a major series on such a platform guarantees significant visibility, something which smaller theatrical releases often lack.
A strong performance in Mayasabha could reaffirm Aadhi’s versatility and depth as an actor. More importantly, it could establish him as a bankable lead, capable of carrying complex roles successfully in the evolving Indian OTT space. Stay tuned for more updates.
