Hard-hitting substance combined with captivating screenplay, flawless casting, outstanding performances, and the best technical presentation eventually reaches the pinnacle of box office success. One such film is “Saala,” which has an intriguing screenplay and a distinctive and captivating tale that explores the modern social issue of alcoholism.
SD Manipaul, who co-directed Prabhu Solomon on films including Thodari, Kumki 2, and Haathi Meri Saathi (a trilingual effort), wrote and directed the movie. Dheeran, making his feature film debut, plays the lead role of Solomon, also known as Saala, a roughneck in his early 30s who owns six bars and is also a bigwig named Guna’s confidante. Reshma, who is making her acting debut, is portraying Punitha, a 25-year-old social activist and teacher who is adamantly against alcohol.
The cinematography for this movie is being handled by Ravindranath Guru. Vaira Balan is the film’s art director, and Bhuvan is in charge of the editing. The film is produced by T.G. Vishwa Prasad of People Media Factory, and co-produced by Vivek Kuchibhotla.
Saala examines issues of prestige, power conflicts, and social activity against the backdrop of Royapuram’s well-known Parvathi Bar, which has been closed for 20 years because of gang warfare. Dheeran portrays Saala with charisma, and his muscular frame is a terrific fit for the part. Reshma Venkatesh plays the unpleasant yet sincere activist with real honesty.
Though the film didn’t have a good box office run, it aims to get a wider audience with its OTT release. It will be released on the Aha Tamil OTT Platform on 20th September. Only time will tell if the underwhelming run at the box office will change for Saala upon its OTT release or not.
