The one problem that regional industries need to tackle is their budget. While sure, some of the biggest productions of the year like ‘Kalki 2898 A.D’, ‘The Greatest of All Time’, and more have been regional-language based features, a majority of regional titles continue to be restricted by their budget.
Such is the case with ‘Kali’, an upcoming Telugu-language thriller on Aha. Although the film was a big box-office blunder, the fact that it is releasing on the platform on October 31st, during the thick of the somewhat pan-nation festive season, it might just succeed in receiving good viewership.
However, also considering the fact that the title has already been streaming on ETV Win since October 17, ‘Kali’, might not draw viewership for Aha. Which is to say, while it will succeed in gaining viewership, it will not necessarily contribute largely to Aha’s monetization agendas.
The film follows Sivaram, a loser because of the choices he has made in his life so far, who decides to end his life. However, when a mysterious man comes to his house and corners him into playing a game of Othello, the true facts of life are revealed. Since Aha has a wider reach of audiences, it could prove to be the aforementioned ‘mysterious man’ for the sinking ship of ‘Kali’!
