How Did Warner Bros. Perform At CinemaCon 2024 Day 1?

How Did Warner Bros. Perform At CinemaCon 2024 Day 1?

Firstly, if you are a casual viewer, this isn’t Comic-Con, and also in terms of hype, it doesn’t even come close to that. But talking about its relevance, the event is definitely important as major studios take part and discuss their future blueprint. The Warner Bros. Discovery panel was definitely one of the most exciting panels of the entire event.

Warner Bros. Discovery managed to quench the thirst of common fans, especially with “Joker: Folie à Deux.” It was perfect; the trailer showcased why it was worth waiting for the second installment of the franchise. But there are more announcements to discuss.

Joker: Folie à Deux

Let’s address the elephant in the room: it was definitely the biggest update of the night as fans were entertained with a near-perfect trailer of “Joker 2.” Releasing on October 4th, the Todd Phillips-directed film is undoubtedly the biggest attraction of Warner Bros. Discovery in 2024, boasting an assembled cast including Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga, Zazie Beetz, Steve Coogan, and others. While we’ve put enough emphasis on “Joker 2″’s trailer, deserving more limelight, let’s talk about other titles from the same lineup..

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

Talking about the Mad Max saga, the franchise offers something different, something that other action franchises fail to do, and that is being innovative with everything. Though the trailer has long been out, Warner Bros. gifted the viewers an extensive exclusive footage from the upcoming film. Warner Bros. unveiled an extended sneak peek at “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” in three parts:

1. “Her Odyssey Begins”: Young Furiosa is captured by Dementus, seeking her origins. Her mother defends their sanctuary, but Furiosa is taken to the wasteland.

2. “The Warrior Awakens”: Adult Furiosa seeks revenge after escaping Immortan Joe, aided by a mentor.

3. “Ride Into Revenge”: Furiosa pursues vengeance on Dementus while evading other wasteland leaders, including Immortan Joe.

The George Miller film will be reaching theaters on May 24th this year. Though the Anya Taylor-Joy casting picked up some traction as fans preferred Charlize Theron more, Anya’s chemistry with Hemsworth might actually be good for the franchise.

The Watchers

Then comes the horror film “The Watchers,” and the audience there got a chance to witness the next trailer of the upcoming film, which paints a better picture of where the film wants to take us. Talking about the plot, Dakota Fanning stars as a young woman trapped in an Irish forest with three others. They face off against ancient monsters rooted in Celtic folklore, who manipulate and terrorize them with mind games. As the group battles for survival, they uncover the sinister secrets of the forest’s dark force.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

The sequel to the 1988 film got some major attention from Warner Bros. Discovery, and the new trailer does give a good idea about what to expect. During this event, the audience got to see a new trailer for the upcoming film.

The new and extended trailer revealed Winona Ryder’s Lydia summoning Beetlejuice to rescue her daughter from the afterlife. Willem Dafoe, as an undead overseer, opposes Beetlejuice’s return. The footage highlighted practical effects, including puppetry and claymation reminiscent of the original. Jenna Ortega’s character ventures into the realm of the dead, while Lydia, with her mouth stitched shut, ponders the coexistence of the living and the dead.

Mickey 17
Directed by Bong Joon-ho, the film is one of those mysterious titles grabbing the attention of fans. Though it was hit by a massive delay again, the film can be a canonical one, and as it is delaying, the hype is increasing even more.

At CinemaCon 2024, the first trailer for Bong Joon-ho’s “Mickey 17” was unveiled. Robert Pattinson portrays Mickey, a common man who becomes a disposable worker in space, dying multiple times on perilous missions, each time replaced by a clone. Steven Yeun and Mark Ruffalo join the cast, with Ruffalo’s character determined to eliminate all duplicate clones, sparking a galactic adventure for two Mickeys. Releasing on the 31st of January, the film is said to have immense potential down the road.
