Under Mani Ratnam’s direction, Kamal Hassan is upcoming with his new film as a lead (His 234th film as a lead). The film is named Thug Life and it will mark the union of Mani Ratnam and Kamal Hassan decades after their last joint work Nayakan (1987). The film has a stellar cast with Kamal Hassan himself and along with him, Trisha Krishan, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Nassar, Ali Fazal and Pankaj Tripathi. The music for the film is composed by the legendary A. R. Rahman.
Though the dates are not clear, the film is supposed to be released in the year 2024 itself. The trailer of the film has also not yet been revealed which indicates the release might take place in December. Prior to its release though, the film presents to be a shocker as it has already started breaking records and amazing people.
Reportedly, the OTT rights for the film has been bought by a leading digital platform for an outstanding amount of 149.7 crores. The amount is a new record for Tamil cinema, and also is a staggering number for films all across India. The buzz around the movie has also been amplified by the fact that reportedly the overseas theatrical rights of the film have been sold for a great amount of 63 crores which shows the film is going to be a record breaker one.
If the reports are not mere rumors and are indeed true, the film will be one of the biggest films of the year. If the overseas value of the film is so high, it shows the demand and buzz the film has around it. The film will surely go on to become one of the biggest films of Tamil Cinema.
With these staggering numbers prior to the release, the film is sure to receive a buzz and receive a boost over its sales. The numbers, if true will increase the value of the film multiple times to create a historical work in the history of Tamil Cinema.
