Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg came up with an excellent satire film in the year 2014- The Interview. The film is a critique of basically everything in the American society and the working of international politics. The film stars Seth Rogen and James Franco in pivotal roles along with Randall Park and Lizzy Caplan in major roles.
The film revolves around the lives of two journalists who get the offer of an interview with the North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un personally. However, the CIA looks at the situation as an opportunity to terminate the dictator and establish fair governance in the state. They persuade the journalists to collaborate with the CIA and help them in taking out Kim Jong Un. What follows is their adventure in fulfilling this task.
The film takes several other celebrities like Eminem as well whom the character of Dave Skylark (James Franco) interviews in his show. The use of these celebrities in a funny and weirdly surprising way makes the film even funnier. The film is full of gags and puns and one liners which constantly makes you laugh. Although they might seem a bit stretchy sometimes, they still feel like an important part of the film.
The way the makers present the countries of America and Korea in the film is hilarious as well as surprising. The way the CIA functions, or the way Korean citizens are forced to live, or the data breaching done by the government for vigilance are something that strike apt on.
The film is available to rent in most of the platforms like Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play Movies and YouTube. If you have a Netflix subscription, the movie is free for you to watch on that platform. The film is a great watch on Sunday if you are looking for a light film or something entertaining and not dark and heavy.
