JioHotstar has dropped a new teaser for Inspector Avinash Season 2 (as part of Hotstar Specials). The second season serves as a follow-up to the first, which premiered back in May 2023. Created and written by Neerraj Pathak, this cop-crime action thriller series takes inspiration from the real-life cases of Uttar Pradesh’s ‘Super Cop’, Avinash Mishra (played by Randeep Hooda).
Apart from Hooda, the teaser also shows a brief glimpse of Urvashi Rautela as Poonam Mishra, Avinash’s wife. In addition, we have the rest of the cast, consisting of talents like Abhimanyu Singh, Amit Sial, Shalin Bhanot, Freddy Daruwala, and more.
Compared to Season 1, Season 2 looks bigger, bolder, and bloodier. The 40-second teaser for the sophomore season shows plenty of action sequences, with most of them taking place in the wilderness and sandy areas.
However, we have no official release date for Inspector Avinash Season 2 yet, but it is expected to premiere later this year.
The duo of Neerraj Pathak and Krishan Choudhary serve as the show’s producers, with Gold Mountain Pictures, Jio Studios, and Spotless Films serving as the production houses.
Season 1 received a mixed-to-positive reception, leaning heavily on Randeep Hooda’s powerhouse performance. Many praised the gritty atmosphere and Hooda’s portrayal of the real-life super-cop, but some felt the pacing was uneven and the 1990s UP crime tropes felt familiar.
Viewers were generally more enthusiastic, reflected in its solid 7.6/10 IMDb rating. Fans enjoyed the high-octane action and the dramatisation of true crime events.
