JioHotstar has no plans to lose momentum. In March, it dropped the massive hit social drama Chiraiya. Led by Divya Dutta, the show grabbed everyone’s attention with its powerful and unflinching story. Then came IPL 2026, which kept viewers glued to their screens every night from 28 March to 31 May. Now, the platform is shifting its attention back to its original content slate, and it seems to have found the perfect contender. The upcoming cybercrime comedy-thriller Pritam and Pedro has all the right ingredients to keep the platform’s winning streak alive.
What makes Pritam and Pedro an instant crowd magnet is the creative genius behind it. The series is created and produced by Rajkumar Hirani, marking his highly anticipated debut in the OTT space.
Hirani is a director who knows the pulse of the Indian audience and is famous for delivering blockbusters that blend heavy emotions with clean, laugh-out-loud comedy. Fans are already eager to see how his iconic storytelling style translates into a web series format.
Adding to the excitement is the reunion of Raju Hirani and Arshad Warsi. This duo previously gave Indian cinema one of its most legendary and lovable characters, Circuit, in the Munna Bhai franchise.
In this new series, Arshad Warsi plays Pedro, a seasoned police officer who gets transferred to the cyber cell as punishment. Arshad is a master of comic timing and effortless acting, and seeing him back in a core comedy-action role is a treat.
The plot introduces a fun “data versus danda” dynamic. While Arshad’s Pedro represents the old-school policing method, he is forced to team up with Pritam, a young, tech-savvy hacker played by Vir Hirani. Together, this mismatched duo must track down a dangerous cybercriminal, played by Vikrant Massey in an intense negative role.
With a strong supporting cast, including Mona Singh and Boman Irani, the show promises plenty of twists, suspense, and typical Hirani-style humour.
Following the heavy emotional impact of Chiraiya, switching lanes to an entertaining comedy-mystery is a smart move for JioHotstar. Pritam and Pedro is scheduled to drop on 3 July, and it could easily emerge as a major streaming success for JioHotstar. Stay tuned for more updates.
