The official trailer for the highly anticipated Telugu film, ‘Pushpa’ released yesterday on Mythiri Movie Makers (the film production company behind ‘Pushpa’) official YouTube channel. While the trailer doesn’t seem to match the hype provided from its teaser, it has done enough to garner 16 million plus views. This promo also dropped the release date of the Allu Arjun, Fahadh Faasil starrer – and it is releasing in ten days. Check out the trailer below:
There are three things to note from this promotional video and they are as follows:
Red Sandalwood Smuggling
Red Sandalwood AKA Pterocarpus santalinus is an extremely desired class of sandalwood. South India has around 95 percent of the world’s red sandalwood (or it did at one point) and is one of the most smuggled items from India. It has only gotten worse over the years, with police finding red sanders (short of red sandalwood) being smuggled as recently as 2017. Therefore a story based on this red sander smuggling is just as important as ‘Scam 1992’.
Pushpa: The Rise – Part 1
While, many did expect a film titled ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ could probably get a sequel – we did not expect the “Part 1” to feature in the title. This means that a sequel is a foregone conclusion and we will definitely be seeing a second part to this feature in the future.
Pushpa’s Uneven Shoulders
While this was not evident in the teaser, it is one of the first things you notice when you see Allu Arjun’s character, Pushpa, on screen – his uneven shoulders. While many might think that he got this due to an injury while working or he got beaten up; the real answer is likely due to his work as a red sander. Most red sanders put nearly a hundred kilos of this wood on one shoulder and walk for kilometers through the jungle – putting an ample amount of strain on one shoulder. If one does this regularly, this will lead to uneven shoulders. A pretty neat inclusion for film continuity.
Pushpa will be released in theaters on 17th December 2021 in multiple languages.
