‘Spiderman: No Way Home’, ‘Pushpa’, ‘Kurup’, ’83’ – All examples of the films that have been doing ridiculously well in theatres so far. Even OTT platforms have been dropping some good movies with ‘Don’t Look Up’, ‘Minnal Murali’ & ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ recently. However, this does mean that a few good films have been going under the radar during the turn of the year. While these films will not be bringing in the crowds anytime soon, they are still good, low key films. So here are three underrated films that you missed at the turn of the year and should check out this weekend:
The Tender Bar
This coming of age drama might not be for everyone but it is a beautiful film worth checking out. The Hollywood feature requires a little patience but it will be worth it to witness some brilliant acting. This George Clooney directed memoir adaptation is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Madhuram
A bittersweet feel-good film is how many would sum up this Malayalam movie. Madhuram is a film about two… no three love stories (the third one is spoken from the point of view of one person only – “40 years” is the reference to be mentioned). It may be slow, but it is sweet. Check it out on SonyLIV.
Binisutoy
This Bengali film is a contemporary niche film that seems almost experimental. Many will not like this movie, which is just one of the few things that set this film apart from the rest. This ZEE5 streaming feature film gives us a unique look into loneliness and how two people decide to combat it.
