Anthologies are fundamentally different from a movie or a web series. They are not very long but they are not as short as short films per se. But, they are like a collection of short films in one file in which the individual stories are independent of each other.
So here is our recommendation of the top 5 anthologies that will keep you engaged in them.
This six-episode anthology revolves around something that is pretty obvious from the title. Its Love. So the directors Devrath Sagar, Tahira Kashyap, Ruchir Arun, Danish Aslam, Sachin Kundalkar, Jaydeep Sarkar and Anand Tiwari wanted to show us something fresh and they proved themselves to be right. The execution could be a little better but overall the anthology is feel good.
4. Unpaused
We all have experienced the lockdown life in 2020-21. This anthology is focused on the lockdown and how different sections of society deal with it. While some had to walk for miles but others had the comfort of helping those who helped them. There are stories that we could relate to.
3. Ray
Satyajit Ray was not only a path-breaking filmmaker but also an exceptional writer. This four-episode anthology is based on his short stories. While some of them do have supernatural elements in them but overall this anthology is a great watch.
This anthology is one of a kind. It showed some extremely gripping stories that were haunting, path-breaking and something that we had never seen before. Mind you that the second story can be a little too much disturbing if you understand it but the third one is something that was untouched by Hindi filmmakers before this one.
This anthology came in 2018 and we are yet to rein our obsession from it. It shows us 4 different stories about Love. Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Karan Johar directed those short films and they were extremely great at it. It is engaging, entertaining and after those two, there is a little left to ask from an anthology.
