It’s new year’s weekend and we are back again with another useful binge-watch list. This is a follow-up to our earlier two “5 must-watch 90-minute movies” articles. We have tried to handpick entertaining and well-made films with a runtime of just around or under 90 minutes from various genres which you can enjoy even if you’re short on time. We hope you’ll enjoy these films as much as we had enjoyed compiling this list for you.
The Circus (Streaming on Mubi)
Another timeless comedy movie that was written, directed, produced by, and features one of the greatest entertainers of all time – Charlie Chaplin. The 1928 silent film’s plotline revolves around Charlie Chaplin’s cult character Tramp and how his inadvertent buffoonery makes him an overnight sensation at a circus, where he falls in love with the circus owner’s stepdaughter.
The Blair Witch Project (Streaming on Lionsgate Play)
Shot using a found-footage filmmaking technique, the film follows three students who venture into a forest to make a documentary on the Blair Witch legend, but never come back. A year later, their spine-chilling camera footage is found, showing the viewers about their mysterious disappearance. The film, although well-executed, was slightly ahead of its time.
The Lion King (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, Zee5)
The 1994 animated film’s premise is a beautiful epitome for the victory of good over evil. The story revolves around a young lion named Simba who is coerced into exile by his wicked uncle Scar before he can ascend his father’s throne. Years later, how Simba eventually realizes the truth and steps up to put an end to his uncle’s autocratic rule, forms the rest of the film’s plot.
Hush (Streaming on Netflix)
Helmed by Mike Flanagan, it’s a slasher horror movie that follows a deaf-mute horror writer’s (played by Kate Siegel) desperate attempt to escape from the clutches of a masked stalker while living a secluded life in the woods.
Mr. Bean’s Holiday (Streaming on Netflix)
Based on Rowan Atkinson’s immensely popular comedy show ‘Mr. Bean’, the film revolves around the hilarious misadventures of the titular character and how the halfwit, but good-hearted Mr. Bean helps reunite a lost son with his father during his eventful holiday trip to Cannes.
