5 Must-Watch Hollywood Thrillers to Binge This Weekend

It’s an onerous task to browse through the myriad online streaming platforms to shortlist and watch films of a particular genre.

Being an ardent thriller-genre fan, I thought compiling a list of some of the best Hollywood thriller films available across OTT platforms might benefit weekend binge- watchers. So here they are:

1.The Next Three Days (Streaming on Netflix)

This one is an awfully underrated thriller starring Russel Crowe.

The movie starts off when his wife is supposedly wrongfully framed of a murder of a colleague.

The husband (Russel Crowe), a college professor, believes she did not commit the crime.

So, he plans to break her out of prison and the goings-on eventually translate in a truly edge-of-the-seat thrill ride. Also starring Elizabeth Banks and Liam Neeson (in a delightful cameo).

2.The Call (Streaming on Netflix)

A high-octane and fast-paced thriller, The Call is about a seasoned 911 operator (Halle Berry), who receives her most challenging call from a kidnapped young girl trapped inside the trunk of a car.

How the operator uses her immense experience to somehow rescue the girl forms the rest of the story.

The film is helmed by Brad Anderson (Director – The Machinist, Transsiberian).

3.Searching (Streaming on YouTube)

This movie can be called as a feature-film variant of a good Black Mirror episode.

Searching narrates the story of a helpless father (played by John Cho), who must track his missing daughter’s digital presence before she disappears forever.

A one-of-its-kind thriller with an inventive narrative style, which was effectively adopted by Fahad Faasil’s recent mystery-thriller film C U Soon.

4.The International (Streaming on Netflix)

For those who liked Mel Gibson’s EDGE OF DARKNESS and the excellent docu-drama ZEITGEIST, this conspiracy-theory thriller is highly recommended.

The film revolves around an Interpol agent’s (Clive Owen) endeavour to uncover the dirty secrets a ‘reputed’ financial institution’s role pertaining to an international arms dealer network.

5.Drive (Streaming on Netflix)

Thematically similar to Denzel Washington’s THE EQUALIZER, this film is about a ‘talented driver’ (Ryan Gosling) with a mysterious background and a dark past and how his seemingly peaceful life is upturned when he tries to rescue the woman he loves from local gangsters.
