Mulk (Streaming on Zee5)
Helmed by Anubhav Sinha, ‘Mulk’ follows the story of a Muslim family who is accused of being involved in terrorism. Thereafter, the family patriarch Murad (Rishi Kapoor) and his son’s wife Aarti (Taapsee Pannu) fight a legal battle to get back the family’s lost honor. The film also features Prateik Babbar, Rajat Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana, and Neena Gupta, amongst others.
Agneepath (Streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video)
The movie was Karan Malhotra’s directorial debut and a remake of Mukul Anand’s 1990 cult film of the same name starring Amitabh Bachchan. The film’s plot revolves around Vijay Deenanath Chauhan, who vows to avenge the brutal death of his father by a powerful Mandwa-based crime lord Kancha (Sanjay Dutt). While Rishi Kapoor played the role of underworld don Rauf Lala and it’s regarded by many as his career-best performance.
Kapoor & Sons (Streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Voot)
The endearing family drama directed by Shakun Batra revolves around the titular Kapoor family living in Coonoor. The plotline follows two estranged brothers Arjun (Sidharth Malhotra) and Rahul (Fawad Khan) who visit their 90-year-old ailing grandfather (Rishi Kapoor) on his birthday. The story takes an interesting turn when they develop a relationship with the same girl (Alia Bhatt) but there is more to the story than meets the eye. The film also features Rajat Kapoor and Ratna Pathak Shah in important roles.
Luck By Chance (Streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video)
The film was the directorial debut of Zoya Akhtar. The plot revolves around the story of an aspiring Bollywood actor Vikram (played by Farhan Akhtar), his relationship with another struggling actress Sona (Konkona Sen Sharma), and how, by a twist of fate, he gets his first big break. Rishi Kapoor had adeptly essayed the role of a big-shot film producer Rommy Rolly. The movie also featured Hrithik Roshan, Dimple Kapadia, Juhi Chawla, and had cameos by Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar, and Abhishek Bachchan, amongst others.
Do Dooni Chaar (Streaming on Netflix)
Written and directed by Habib Faisal, the slice-of-life family dramedy features Rishi Kapoor as a middle-class high school teacher Santosh Duggal living in Delhi with his wife (Neetu Kapoor) and his two children. But when his family decides to buy their first car, will the struggling schoolteacher give up his honest ways to make their dream come true? The movie had won Rishi Kapoor the ‘Best Actor’ Filmfare critics award and the movie had won the National Film Award for the Best Film.
