6 Movies & Show On Netflix That You Shouldn’t Miss This Sunday!

Netflix each and every day releases something for everyone. The streaming site releases almost hundreds of new titles almost every month. While some get attention, some get lost in the traffic of the hit ones. There are so many more that have been released this week too, filling the streaming service with more choices.

Here’s a curated list of 6 movies and shows on Netflix that you should definitely go over this Sunday, as these are something you can complete without the commitment of staying attached to

Roohi1. Roohi

Roohi was one of the first Bollywood movies this year that came out. The movie came out after the horrible that 2020 was. The movie stars Jhanvi Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma in the lead roles. Roohi is the second movie in the “Stree” franchise. Just like its last movie, this movie too mixes horror with comedy making this a perfect watch for everyone. Roohi tells a story of a how two young boys of a village are stuck with a girl named Roohi in the forest. Roohi who seems sweet and simple, isn’t quite so as she is possessed by the demonic spirit Afza. While one falls in love with Roohi, the other falls for Afza which ultimately turns this into one comedic and yet biggest dilemma of the movie.

Night In Paradise2. Night In Paradise

Night in Paradise last year was released at the Venice Film Festival. The Korean movie is a perfect noir film filled with crime, mobsters and the feeling when you lose someone. Set in the paradise of South Korea, Jeju islands, a mobster runs from his past and also from his previous gang members to save his life. As the people that killed his sister and nephew are on his lookout he needs to hatch a perfect plan to save his life but also to finish everything once and for all. While he plans that, he meets Jae yoon who is fighting her own demons. With sadness in each other’s lives they feel to be the perfect match for each other, sadly they are not wanted alive by some people.

Coded Bias3. Coded Bias

Coded Bias, an American documentary tells the story how even technology has been set up in a way that it is biased to certain people when technology is something that should’ve been for everyone. Following the story of Joy Buolamwini, the Ghanian-American founder of Algorithmic Justice League, it is revealed how the services set up by white men have gone to create issues. The issues have gone unnoticed for a long time, but it was very recently found when a face recognition system failed to recognize a black woman’s face. It only accepted when she happened to put on a white mask. This failed facial recognition created serious issues and how it has affected the communities especially in the States. The hour and a half long documentary tells you the darkest and deepest secrets of how technology works and how biased it can be.

Dolly Parton: A MusiCares Tribute4. Dolly Parton: A MusiCares Tribute

Every year, MusiCares dedicates a tribute for a celebrated singer in the industry and this year it was none other than Dolly Parton. With this tribute, Dolly Parton became the first country singer to receive it. An hour long documentary/concert, the show brings several of our favourite artists together under one roof. Artists like Miley Cyrus, Shawn Mendes, Katy Perry, Pink, Leon Bridges, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt, Brandi Carlile, Mavis Staples, Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton, Garth Brooks, and Trisha Yearwood all pay tribute to the legendary singer with their own rendition and dedication of songs for Parton. As that happens, Dolly takes the center stage and narrates her story and her life with the music in it.

The Way of the Househusband5. The Way of the Househusband

This is a unique piece of Japanese art that you shouldn’t skip. The Way of the Househusband shows the daily life of a yakuza. If you are thinking it will be filled with fights, guns, gangwars well then you are wrong because this is not the type of Yakuza you find usually. The heavily tattooed and muscled up man leaves his ways in life to become a househusband while his wife lives her life as a working, salarywoman. This is sure to leave you with bouts of laughter as you navigate through how this yakuza goes with his daily life cleaning, cooking, washing clothes with his intriguing attitude.

Have You Ever Seen Fireflies6. Have You Ever Seen Fireflies?

Have You Ever Seen Fireflies? is not something that will easily pop up on your Netflix list so search for it in the search bar and go watch this fun movie. This is a Turkish movie that will take you back in time as the leading lady narrates her story while she goes through her album of photos filled with memories. The story shows how a girl who needs answers to small things in life, rebellious and yet lovable at heart finds her ways through life. While she does that and grows up she comes across people that change her life. She sees loss creeping in as conflicts and wars take over her city in Turkey. While everything changes, the only constant thing that stays with her are the fireflies around her.
