The movies and series released in OTT platforms increased and with that increased the need of introducing their own streaming app. This led to the formation of Hoichoi, as an app and also as a website. One of the highest rated shows on Hoichoi, Byomkesh follows the journey of acclaimed detective Byomkesh and how he deals with the cases all along. With Ajit by his side Byomkesh solves various cases with his unique approaches to the cases as he goes from one case to another. With 11 episodes and 5 seasons in the series Byomkesh is a must watch.
Eken Babu (2018)
Eken Babu is also another web series about a detective that shifts to a new apartment and starts solving mysteries one after the other. His neighbours are annoyed with him as he keeps up with his quirkiness and solves the cases. The detective word doesn’t suit him as he looks and dresses like a typical Bengali middle-aged man. The series consists of 4 seasons and 27 episodes.
Taqdeer (2020)
Taqdeer is the most recent web series that has hit the streaming site. It is the 4thoriginal series from Bangladesh and is going to show real problems of Bangladesh. The show follows the journey of a freezer van driver and how he falls in the laps of a mystery and goes on to solve them. The series is ongoing at the moment and has 8 episodes in total.
Rahasya Romancha (2019)
Originally perceived to be produced as a film but later was turned into a web series and has 3 seasons of it. The series follows different plotlines and stories for almost all the episodes and seasons and connects those together at the end. Some particular episodes in some series will be dedicated to one story itself so that the show doesn’t feel dragged on. This is a culmination of mystery stories.
Shobdo Jobdo (2020)
Shobdo Jobdo, is a Bengali web series that started to stream in Hoichoi from February 2020. This web series marks the entry of Rajat Kapoor into the Bengali film industry. The story follows a writer who returns to India from abroad along with his family. The lead is haunted by memories of the past as they see the entry of a character that shouldn’t have been present there in the first place.
Dark web (2018)
The story is a journey of a gamer who while searching through the internet falls into the trap and goes beyond the limits. He enters into a trap called the dark web and now needs to face the consequences of it. The series is unique and also interesting at the same point as it introduces technology and the dark mystery underneath it.
The Stoneman Murders (2019)
The Stoneman Murders is basically inspired by true events that occurred in 1985 to 1989, where a serial killer was committing murders and has remained unidentified. The murders were done by killing the victims with stone and the mystery behind the murders could never be solved. The story of the series starts with one journalist uncovering the diary of the stoneman and the story starts from that moment on. The series at the moment just has one season.
