With each passing day, the stand of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) is becoming clear regarding digital platform and OTT content. It is partially good news going by what they have to say.
The members at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) have created a non-negotiable, negative list of content that should be avoided at any cost in the shows on the OTT platform. There won’t be any change in this stand, and the makers have to comply with it at any cost. The list is expected to be out by the end of the year.
Coming to the good news, the MIB has given clarity on censorship. It has said that there won’t be anything of that sort even if the content is critical of the government. They have also asked the OTT platforms to come up with a self-regulatory body to look into the content instead of letting it go out of hand and coming to them.
The OTT platforms are already under one such code. So, we have to see how well this new body would able to solve the issue at hand.
