Earlier today, maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma took to Twitter to post an appreciation message for the second season of Raj & DK’s blockbuster web series ‘The Family Man S2’.
In the Twitter post, Ram Gopal Varma compared Raj & DK’s espionage thriller show to the globe-trotting secret agent James Bond franchise. He further praised the celebrated show’s lead actor Manoj Bajpayee for pulling off a blend of multiple genres like family drama, action, and entertainment.
FAMILY MAN 2 gives rise to a realistic James Bond franchise which can go on forever .Mixing family drama/action/entertainment is complex and can only be pulled off by an incredible actor like @bajpayeemanoj as he treads the very fine line between realistic and dramatic 👏👏👏🙏

Accomplished actor Manoj Bajpayee was quick to respond to RGV’s tweet. He replied with the words “Now That’s my award !!! Thank you Ramu”. The brief exchange between these two seasoned craftsmen brought back nostalgic memories of their previous cinematic collaborations.
Interestingly, after struggling for a few years and doing minor movie roles, the gifted actor was discovered by Ram Gopal Varma, who offered Manoj Bajpayee the role of a lifetime. The role that would become the hallmark of Manoj Bajpayee’s acting career for years to come. The character was Bhiku Mhatre in RGV’s cult crime film ‘Satya’.
The following year, Ram Gopal Varma cast him in two other films – the mystery thriller ‘Kaun?’ and the hard-hitting cop drama ‘Shool’. Although these films didn’t exactly set the box office on fire, however, the acting prowess of Manoj Bajpayee was unanimously admired. The RGV films in which the actor featured truly showcased the powerhouse performer that Manoj Bajpayee was. And the actor has only gotten better with time.
In addition to Manoj Bajpayee’s reply, the co-director, and co-writer of ‘The Family Man’ Season 2 – Suparn Varma had also replied to Ram Gopal Varma’s tweet. He stated that: “This endorsement from you means the world to us. I would put a heart emoji but that’s not your style 🙂 I would say I love you but that’s not your style either. But you changed my world with your films and working with you briefly was being in a film school.”
Besides taking us down memory lane, Manoj Bajpayee and Suparn Varma’s replies to Ram Gopal Varma’s post shows that the maverick director’s appreciation for the ‘The Family Man’ Season 2 means a lot to both of them.
