After 13 years, a cult movie’s sequel is finally making its entry. We are talking about Aankhen, which released in 2002 and starred legends like Amitabh Bachchan, Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar in the lead. They played the role of 3 blind men that orchestrated a great heist and were successful to steal the money from the bank. The movie saw quite a big success and ever since the release, “Aankhen” has always been mentioned as a cult movie.
Now, news has it that the sequel for the movie is all set to start its shoot from the month of May this year. The sequel named “Aankhen 2” will see the return of Amitabh Bachchan and entry of other new characters. The movie stars handsome hunk Siddharth Malhotra and Akshaye Khanna in the leads this time. There are also rumors that Sunil Grover might be joining the cast of the movie with a significant role, but there hasn’t been any kind of confirmation as of yet. Abhinay Deo will be the one helming the movie and the team has been finalizing locations for the shoot. The makers seem to have decided upon Bulgaria and the UK as of now and if everything goes alright will be moving ahead with the locations for the movie.
Though the plot of the story isn’t revealed, it is being speculated that Amitabh Bachchan’s character “Vijay Singh Rajput” will be coming out of jail and will be seen planning an even grander heist with a new set of blind men. This is where we suppose Siddharth Malhotra and Akshaye Khanna step in.
It would be interesting to see how the actors and the makers preserve the essence of the prequel in this upcoming movie. For many “Aankhen” is a classic and it is always hard to match up with the expectations of how it has entertained people for so many years. Given the cast and the makers, the movie looks promising but everything comes down to the execution and the story in today’s day and age. Even though it is very early to judge how the movie will be but, it would be interesting to see how the sequel plays out and will it be able to give the fans yet another cult classic.
