Looks like if everything goes according to the plan, we will soon see the 10th Sanjay Gupta-Sanjay Dutt collaboration. Yes, the deadly director-actor combo is likely to be back after 14 years.
Earlier today we learnt that Sanjay Gupta, who was recently seen directing the 2021 crime thriller Mumbai Saga featuring another long time collaborator, John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi, is rumored to be returning to direct the sequel of 2006 cult crime drama Zinda with Sanjay Dutt. Last seen together in Shootout At Lokhandwala back in 2007, Gupta and Dutt started collaborating together in 1994 for Aatish: Feel The Fire and went on to eight more films such as Jung, Khauff, Kaante and Musafir, amongst others.
Now, those who are not familiar with Zinda, it’s unofficial remake of South Korean film Oldboy which tells a story of a man, who taken into custody and locked up for fourteen years without any sane reason, is suddenly released, and has four days to figure out why this was done to him and avenge for the injustice happened with him. Featuring John Abraham, Sanjay Dutt, Lara Dutta and Celina Jaitly, the film was not-so commercially successful but developed a cult status amongst the fans.
Now, after 15 years of Zinda, it will be extremely exciting and equally challenging for Sanjay Gupta to come up with the story and execute with Sanjay Dutt with whom he will be uniting after fourteen long years. Though, there is no confirmation on it yet as Dutt is certainly busy with Bhuj: The Pride of India, Shamshera, Prithviraj, and KGF Chapter 2. On the other hand, Gupta is also occupied with upcoming vigilante film Rakshak.
Now, we can only hope and wait for the confirmation on the Zinda sequel, and expect the same kind of performance which Sanjay Dutt delivered in 2006.
