The terrific boom in the OTT industry which arrived in 2020 is known to all. As the theatres were shut, it was the OTT platforms that took the guard from the silver screens to entertain people. Now as the year progressed we saw how it was actually a blessing in disguise. We witnessed new and fresh content that was seriously needed in the tough times of the pandemic to keep people entertained. And with OTT we saw how the audience preferred content over star power, as they liked new faces instead of big star content.
Seeing the surge in the demand for good OTT content and with the uncertainty around the theatres, many A-list actors decided to venture into the market as well. And with that the next 3-4 years are stacked with high-end content.
Seeing the future plans and the acceptance for fresh stories and characters, OTT hasn’t only produced stars out of lesser known actors, with the ongoing momentum, many veteran actors are also looking forward to trying the newly arrived means of entertainment and that’s why we’ll be seeing a lot of old actors coming back to entertain all the generations.
Last year the legendary Shabana Azmi starred in the Netflix’s original horror movie Kaali Khuhi. The movie was praised for its cinematography and acting plus it garnered love from the audience. Amitabh Bachchan was also seen on the OTT platform last year with Shoojit Sircar’s Gulabo Sitabo.
Dimple Kapadia, made headlines last year with her presence in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet and will be seen in Amazon Prime’s political drama – Taandav this year which is scheduled to arrive on January 15th 2021. Now the latest entrant into the OTT market will be the evergreen “Disco Dancer” – Mithun Chakraborty.
PeepingMoon reported that Mithun Chakraborty will be seen in a high profile web series for Amazon Prime Video which also stars Shruti Hassan. The untitled web series is based on the 2015 novel by Ravi Subramanian titled – The Bestseller She Wrote. The story revolves around the glamourous world of bestsellers and follows a relationship between a superstar novelist and his protegé.
The web series is produced by Hichki director Siddharth P Malhotra. Mukul Abhyankar will be directing the show.
According to PeepingMoon, the show has also stars Gauahar Khan, Arjan Bajwa, and Annu Kapoor in pivotal roles.
