In an interesting development of sorts, Aha Video has taken contrasting stands on two of its forthcoming releases, Love Story and Most Eligible Bachelor. While the Telugu-only OTT platform has planned an early OTT release for Love Story, it has decided to hold back Most Eligible Bachelor.
Going into the story, Aha Video holds the post theatrical digital streaming rights of both Love Story and Most Eligible Bachelor. As for Love Story, the film hit the theatres on the 24th of September. Now, it is gearing up for digital premieres on Aha on the 22nd of October. The Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi starrer is up for OTT premieres just 4 weeks post the theatrical release.
At the same time, Aha is holding back on another one of its flagship releases, Most Eligible Bachelor. Speaking at the ‘Thanks Meet’ event of Most Eligible Bachelor the other night, Allu Aravind, who presented the film revealed that the Akhil Akkineni starrer won’t be made available for streaming on Aha Video in the immediate future. “We have no plans of releasing Most Eligible Bachelor on OTT anytime soon. We will space out the theatrical and OTT release by at least a few months,” he revealed. Notably, Most Eligible Bachelor’s OTT rights were bagged by Aha and Netflix. Going by Aravind’s comments, the film won’t be landing on either of the platforms in the near future.
Most Eligible Bachelor is putting on a fine show at the box office, much thanks to the Dussehra festival season release. The makers seem to be intending to propel the film’s theatrical returns by stating that it won’t be premiering on OTT anytime soon. It remains to be seen if Aha will take a similar stand on its forthcoming releases like Ghani, Lakshya, and other Telugu films as well.
