Korean survival thriller ’Squid Game’ has become an international sensation since its release on Netflix so much so that after topping the charts in several countries across the globe, the series is all set to overtake shows like ‘Bridgerton’ and ‘The Witcher’ to become the most popular show ever on Netflix.
Well if you are not a statistics person or even otherwise you would get the idea of how much ’Squid Game’ is being loved all over the world by the fact that it made Jeff Bezos to go all praises for Netflix and it’s team, even though he hasn’t seen the show yet!
Jeff Bezos, Founder of Amazon Inc., that owns Amazon Prime Video, took to Twitter to applaud Netflix team led by their CEOs Reed Hastings and Ted Sarandos for their complex yet brilliant “internationalization strategy”. He also mentioned it to be “impressive and inspiring”.
Coming from the owner of one of its biggest competitor company, this comment holds a lot of significance for Netflix. It goes on to show how the global streaming giant is pioneering in what it doing, especially with the non-English content. Shows like Narcos, La Casa De Papel, Dark, Elite and now Squid Game are all exemplary of the same.
Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos, recently at Vox Media’s Code Conference, unveiled the latest statistics for Netflix’s most popular films and series. At the same conference he made a special mention about the Korean dystopian drama ‘Squid Game’ that how it is the number 1 show globally on Netflix currently and is on its way to become the most popular show ever on Netflix.
