Amazon Prime’s Drishyam 2 Trailer: Keeps The Thrill Alive!

By Binged Bureau - Feb 06, 2021 @ 07:02 pm
Amazon Prime’s Drishyam 2 Trailer: Keeps The Thrill Alive!

A few hours ago, Amazon Prime Video released the trailer for the much anticipated Malayalam film Drishyam 2 which was scheduled to be released on 8th of February 2021. This was obviously a mistake from the streaming service’s part and they quickly removed it within minutes, but the damage was already done. The release date for the film was included within the trailer and it was shown that the movie will push its release date by 5 additional days. So Amazon Prime has decided to re-release the trailer an hour back and has made it available for all to view.

The trailer for Drishyam 2 does not disappoint (Phew!). When a sequel was announced previously, many were in doubt with regards to what could the producers possibly milk from this “already-spent cash cow”? Turns out, there is quite a bit of the story left to be told, if the trailer is any indication. Check out the trailer at the end of this article.

The trailer of Drishyam 2 picks up six years after the events of Drishyam. Georgekutty has quit his previous job and decided to follow his passion, which we all remember are movies, and he has become a theater owner and he plans to produce movies next. His wife Rani and him still bicker, this time over the loans he had to take to become a theater owner. Mohanlal’s and Meena’s onscreen chemistry is still brilliant in the few seconds we get to see them in the trailer, as husband and wife. Their children have grown up, with the eldest, Anju, currently studying in college. They are a happy family once again, or at least how it was before the events of Drishyam took place.

The trailer takes a turn for the worse when a new case (or possibly an old one, this is not explained) taken up by the local police brings them to Georgekutty’s doorsteps. As more and more cops turn up at their home, Anju, who has a case of panic attacks when under stress, starts having sleepless nights and even more panic attacks. We also get to see the aftermath of Georgekutty’s interrogation during the “Varun case” and we get to see that many people from Georgekutty’s village don’t exactly believe that he is innocent. The trailer reaches its final boiling point when Geetha and Prabhakar (parents of Varun) turn up at the police station for further questioning.

One dialogue in the movie actually gives us hope for Drishyam 2, and has increased the expectation of getting another masterclass of a movie from Jeethu Joseph. The dialogue is “When new CIs come to our village, they will all investigate this case. These investigations will always be there till we all die”, which was said by Geaorgekutty to his wife Rani. This line is bone-chilling, especially in the way Mohanlal delivers it and now we can’t wait for the movie to drop.

Drishyam 2 will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on 19th February 2021.
