Amazon Prime Video Responds On Master Views Number!

By Binged Bureau - Feb 02, 2021 @ 09:02 am

Ever since Master dropped on Amazon Prime Video, there has been raging curiosity amongst fans of Thalapathy Vijay to know the number of views that Master has clocked in on Amazon Prime Video. They have been trawling the Internet and Twitter to gain some insight into how many views did Master get on Amazon Prime Video.

Now official information on the number of views Master raked in on its OTT debut on Amazon Prime Video has come straight from the streaming platform itself. Enthusiastic fans appealed to Amazon Prime Video’s Help handle to provide information on the number of views for Master on Prime. Amazon Help itself has responded to the query. The handle has replied in no uncertain terms that it NEVER gives out information regarding the viewing numbers of its content, and it has NOT given out any information on the viewing numbers of Master as well, and that it CANNOT share info on number of views for any of its content.

Check out the replies given by the official Amazon Prime Video support Twitter handle @AmazonHelp –

We have been writing regularly on the lack of transparency on the part of Amazon Prime Video in giving out viewing numbers of popular content. Unlike Netflix, which publishes the viewing numbers for its content with clockwork regularity, Amazon Prime Video has been notorious for holding its cards close to its chest.

We had written about (read here) no viewing numbers being made available at the time of the direct to digital release of Soorarai Pottru on Amazon Prime Video. And we wrote again on the lack of viewing numbers available from Amazon Prime Video for Master here – Master: Blockbuster, Hit Or Average, Where Are The Numbers?

When a movie releases in the theatres, its blockbuster, hit or average status can easily be calculated based on ticket sales. But when a movie releases on OTT, there’s no way to find out the number of views a movie has got, or whether it is a success on streaming, unless the streamer gives out official viewing figures, that ONLY THEY are in possession of.

Any information shared by trade analysts or websites on viewing numbers is true only if it has been made public by the streaming platform itself. And Amazon Prime Video is very very particular about not giving out viewing numbers of any of its content – not abroad, and certainly not in India. So be warned, any viewing numbers for Amazon Prime Video you read about is just hearsay, speculation and fudged numbers.
