The highly anticipated Lord of The Rings series has dropped a short, one-minute teaser trailer on Amazon Prime Video’s official YouTube channel… And it is perfect. Technically, this promotional video is a title announcement video, with the words, “The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power”, appearing at the end of said promo. We do not know if this is the name of the new series or the name of the upcoming season alone, but with a brilliant introduction like that, we know that we can’t wait to find out when the web series finally drops in September.
The teaser only provides this chilling monologue, “Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky, Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone, Nine for Mortal Men, doomed to die, One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne, In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie”. Any Lord of The Rings fan (be it of books or movies) will know about the rings of power as they are described above. From what we can understand, the promo video focus heavily on the forging of the rings, which we expect will have a huge role to play in this upcoming web series. And that’s what makes this promo perfect. We will finally understand how Sauron managed to seduce men, elves and dwarves alike to the dark side and how he managed to create the rings to control them all.
This upcoming web series will be set in the Second Age of Middle Earth, which begins almost 4000 year before the events of The Hobbit film series. Since we already know that the series is going to be talking about the rings of power, the web series will be set around 2500 years before the events of previously mentioned Hobbit films. This means that we will meet a lot of legendary characters that we only heard by name in the books and/or films and we will also get to see the ancestors of a few beloved characters from the original film series as well.
The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on September 2nd 2022.
