Many of you should have heard this “news” by now – Amazon Prime Video has managed to acquire the streaming rights for Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal‘s wedding. And if the media is to be believed – the broadcasting rights for the wedding was sold for a huge lump sum of money ranging between Rs. 80 – 100 crores. While there hasn’t been any official confirmation from any of the parties involved, this “collaboration” has been broadcasted as true fact by multiple Indian news companies. So the mystery remains – is Amazon Prime’s latest acquisition a fact or (not that) fantastical fiction?
While many knew about this important event between the two Bollywood heavyweights – the security measures taken to keep the event private has borderlined ridiculousness. Guests signing NDAs and shoot on sight orders against journalists found trespassing on the property are a couple of these security measures. Then again, both Kaif and Kaushal are two of the biggest Bollywood stars on the planet. Having a secret wedding is almost impossible for these two actors, so the least they can do is keep the occasion private with only them and their closed ones.
However, according to latest reports, Amazon Prime Video will not be broadcasting the wedding. The source from the International OTT conglomerate stated that they hadn’t even approached the couple for the wedding video or vice verse. If this report turns out to be true (which looks like it), a lot of media companies will be left with an egg at their own faces. While we still do not know the OTT situation behind the wedding, both Kaif and Kaushal married each other yesterday and there are photos online proving this event. So if Amazon Prime Video did not approach the couple for the streaming rights, chances are they won’t approach the couple now.
