Jayasurya’s 100th film, Sunny, will be released directly for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. As you may have noticed in the trailer, Sunny will focus on a man who is stuck in a hotel all alone during the Covid-19 pandemic. What you guys probably didn’t notice was that Jayasurya was the only actor featured throughout the trailer. To see the trailer again, check it out at the end of this article.
Jayasurya‘s upcoming film will delve into a different topic of the coronavirus pandemic – loneliness and depression. While many of us did manage to stay indoors with a friend or family member, millions of people around the world were stuck in an unfamiliar environment, all alone, for months, while the coronavirus pandemic raged on around them. The resulting loneliness and depression is something many can barely fathom – but it did happen to a LOT of people. Sunny will be looking to tackle this particular coronavirus topic to an extreme end – a man who has alienated himself from his family through his actions and regrets them every day is stuck in a hotel room, alone, during the coronavirus pandemic.
As we can see in the trailer, Jayasurya is pretty much the only person we see in the promo video for Sunny. While we expect to see more actors onscreen; either on the lead character’s phone (or laptop, etc.) or through flashbacks – Jayasurya should be carrying at least 80% of the film’s screen time. And while it is new for him, this is a role fit for an actor of Jayasurya’s calibre – an important character role for him to portray for his 100th feature film. We can’t wait for the film to drop and see his performance.
Jayasurya’s 100th onscreen outing will release directly for streaming on Amazon Prime Video on 23rd September 2021.
