More drama surrounds the third installment of MCU’s Spider-Man. Amidst the buzz of all the previous Spider-Man returning for Spider-Man: No Way Home, Andrew Garfield dropped a surprise explosive which may dishearten the fans a little, for now.
Earlier yesterday, Andrew Garfield, who portrayed the teenaged wall crawler in The Amazing Spider-Man series, denied the rumor of him being casted in the next MCU Spider-Man film. He said, “I did not get a call. Listen, I would have gotten a call by now, that’s all I’m saying. I don’t want to rule anything out. Maybe they want to call me! Maybe they’re going to call me and say, ‘Hey, people want this.”
The comment by The Social Network will surely dampen the hopes of MCU fans a bit who are rooting for Tobey Maguire and Garfield to return and unite with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man for the third installment of Spider-Man. The notion got stronger when Alfred Molina who portrayed Doctor Octopus in Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 2 and Jamie Foxx, who played Electro in Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, confirmed to return in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Molina even confirmed that he is in talks with MCU who are planning to digitally age his character for the film.
Now Andrew Garfield may have shot down the widespread rumors that he’ll be returning to the extended Spider-verse alongside the current Spider-Man, but it doesn’t mean that the hopes of seeing all three Spider-Man characters together are lost. MCU is known for maintaining secrecy on their stories and also surprising the fans with casting choices.
So, as fans are still hoping that they can see something related to the past Spider-Man movies which can take them down memory lane while watching the next Spider-Man extravaganza.
As per the latest reports, Spider-Man: No Way Home directed by Jon Watts, is set to be released on December 17, 2021, as part of Phase Four of the MCU.
