Anthony Mackie to Play the Lead in Sony’s ‘Twisted Metal’ Series

Sony’s series adaptation for HBO starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey for the 2013 video game ‘The Last of Us’ is already underway. It was previously reported that creative giant Sony was also developing a live-action adaptation of ‘Twisted Metal’, a vehicular combat PlayStation videogame that first came out in the year 1995.

And now it has been reported via Deadline that ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ star Anthony Mackie has been roped in to play the lead character of John Doe in the ‘Twisted Metal’ series, which will reportedly be set in a 30-minute episodes format.

‘Twisted Metal’ was a black-humor, non-racing motorsport game where the players could choose a vehicle to engage in a battle with competing drivers, and the last driver alive was considered to be the winner.

While the aforesaid series adaptation of the same name is being described as an action-comedy that follows an incessant talker and equally fast driver John Doe (played by Anthony Mackie), who is portrayed as a milkman with no past memory. The protagonist is given the task of delivering a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland, that will enable him to lead a better life. With a car thief accompanying him, he will have to face fierce vehicular combat and other dangers during his mission.

Regarding Anthony Mackie’s casting, PlayStation head Asad Qizilbash had said that “We’re thrilled to have Anthony Mackie on board. His ability to blend comedy, action, and drama is perfect for the Twisted world we’re creating.”

Following the streaming success and wide acclaim of his superhero series ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, Anthony Mackie’s upcoming projects include Christopher Landon’s ‘We Have a Ghost’ and the talented actor will also be seen in the highly anticipated fourth installment of ‘Captain America’.
