Anusandhan is an upcoming Bengali film and the teaser has created quite the buzz among the audiences. Anusandhan stars Saswata Chatterjee, Churni Ganguly, Ridhhi sen, Paayel Sarkar, Joydeep Mukherjee, and Priyanka Sarkar. The film is directed by Kamleshwar Mukherjee and produced by Ashok Kumar Dhanuka and Himanshu Dhanuka.
Indra Chakraborty is an affluent businessman. He is allegedly going away to strike a deal on the occasion of Durga puja against the wishes of his wife. He is on his way when an unfortunate accident leads him to a house where he decides to take shelter.
A family of lawyers live there and decide to play a little game. What looks like all fun and games at the beginning start to take sinister turns when Indra is charged with grave crimes. Things can get out of hand as he is forced to face the truth in a house filled with random strangers trying to get to the depth of the matter.
The trailer of this film is strikingly similar to Bollywood’s ‘Chehre’ with the same premise and background. The story and characters also seem to be moulded around the same cast except for a few minor details to adapt to the setting of the film. It is easy to get sucked into this debate and while there may be many convoluted fan theories both of these titles are reminiscent of the 1982 film ‘The Deadly Game’ in which a bunch of retired lawyers amuses themselves by prosecuting, defending, and judging a hapless traveller. That movie itself was created based on a novel called ‘Die Panne’ which was written by Friedrich Durrenmatt. It was known as Traps in the United States and was published in 1956.
Anusandhan will be in theatres pretty soon even though there isn’t a confirmed release date yet.
