Applause Entertainment is on a roll in the OTT market with shows like Scam 1992, Hello Mini, Criminal Justice, Avrodh etc. To continue their red hot streak in the streaming market, Applause Entertainment has joined hands with the acclaimed director Sudhir Mishra. Mishra who is known for his works in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, Chameli, Inkaar etc, is coming off from the celebrating success of Netflix’s Serious Men. And this time, the director is looking to revisit pre independence era to trace the rise of British empire in India.
Sudhir Mishra himself has envisioned the show as a 3 season offering and has currently writing on the first season. Since the show is backed by Applause Entertainment and seeing the setting of it, the makers are eyeing that the show is set on grand scales. And naturally this might take a fair amount of time before the show actually gets into the shooting stage.
The story is set in the 1840s and will follow the rise of British Raj in India. The show will focus on the nation and its people’s struggle. Sudhir Mishra adds that “Its about time we tell the whole world our story. Plus it’s also going to be beneficial for the next generation to know about their history and know the story of the freedom movement”.
Mishra further adds that since the show is based on the historical moments and is set on the grand scales. Also the fact that it is going to be an international show, talent from all over the world will be featured in it.
